During our 2015 American journey, we were driving to the Harley Davidson Museum in Milwaukee - a pilgrimage I'd been looking forward to. You hear about all the traffic in America, the congested highways and endless cars, but on this stretch of the Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Highway, there was just one car in front of us.
A single red car against this stark, industrial brutalist architecture - the contrast was striking. The geometric concrete overpasses, the clean lines, the emptiness of it all. It looked like something from a dystopian film, yet there was beauty in that minimalist, architectural severity.
I photographed it because it reminded me of the Tom Cochrane song 'Life is a Highway' - but this version was quieter, more contemplative. Just us, the red car, and the open road ahead.
