Unfortunately, the online art world is not immune to scams and shady characters. From fake buyers to art theft, it’s essential to stay vigilant and protect yourself. This is by far my biggest bugbear! Social media breeds scammers and shady people who are practised in the art of stealing your money. On my first day live when I uploaded my products to social media, I was inundated with marketers who promised me that they could grow my online presence, improve my SEO, create Facebook ads or for a fee build my business into a 10k a month business. All of these people who contacted me had zero followers, false profiles or free email addresses.

The range of scams varies from person to person but many will contact you relentlessly and try to break you down and get you to pay them your hard-earned money. Be vigilant! NFT scams are rampant on Instagram and Facebook and they will try to get you in by discussing your art, complimenting it and then finally directing you to a website where you will need to create an account and log in using details that hackers will gain access to either your computer or your finance accounts.
