From “Send Me Back!” to “I’ve Got This!”
At first, she wanted out.
The original version of this artwork carried the words “Send me back!”, a playful reference to the classic science-fiction series The Time Tunnel. Her startled expression suited the idea perfectly: someone had landed in an unfamiliar situation and immediately wanted to return to safety.
But the longer I lived with the image, the more the message felt wrong. I didn’t want her waiting to be rescued. I wanted her to take control.
So “Send me back!” became “I’ve Got This!”
That small change transformed the artwork from a reaction into a decision.
Her wide eyes still suggest that things may not be going entirely to plan. The bold orange and blue, the radiating comic-book lines and the speech bubble all add urgency and humour. But beneath that energy is a quieter message:
You don’t have to feel completely fearless before moving forward.
That is what I’ve Got This! represents, the moment when uncertainty is still present, but it no longer gets to make the decision.
It brings confidence, colour and a touch of humour to home offices, studios, entryways and other spaces where people make decisions, take risks and begin again.
